A trial lawyer first
Jason came to the law after working in journalism and radio, studying politics and teaching children with special needs in South Florida. Since turning to trial work, he has tried more than 90 cases.
He prepares every case as though it will be tried. Most federal cases end in a plea agreement, and the terms often depend on whether prosecutors believe the defense is ready to go to trial.
Federal defense

Jason is a Criminal Justice Act panel attorney in the Southern District of Florida, appointed to represent clients in serious federal criminal matters. He defends people at every stage, from the first contact by agents through investigation, indictment and trial.
On cases that call for a second experienced federal lawyer, he works alongside Phil Horowitz and Victor Rocha.
Where the stakes are highest
Jason is one of the few attorneys appointed by the State of Florida to represent people on death row in clemency proceedings. He has also served as an expert witness in criminal cases.
Teaching lawyers to pick juries
Drawing on training in social psychology, Jason works as a jury consultant on state and federal cases and travels throughout Florida teaching other lawyers how to select juries. He also helps trial teams test their cases with focus groups before trial.
Jury consulting for lawyersOn A&E
Jason’s trial defense work was featured on Accused: Guilty or Innocent?, A&E’s documentary series that follows real cases from the perspective of the accused and their legal team.
“That was masterclass work by the defense.”
